Art Contest FAQ
Welcome to the art contests that I host. You may find the answer to your question below. If you do not, feel free to contact me with your questions/comments/concerns @pdaofficialartcontest@gmail.com. Do NOT use the 'Contact Me' form if you are reaching out regarding the art contest. That email is for my freelance design work & potential clientiele. I look forward to seeing your amazing works of art!
How Does It Work?
Art Contests are subject to be held at irregular intervals due to me being the solo guy running everything from the organizing to the judging and so forth. Combine that with my normally heavy work schedule and you get art contests that happen irregularly.
Who is eligible to enter?
Anyone and everyone! Age, place of residence, sex, etc do not matter. If you are a previous winner, you are also eligible to enter into another art contest.
How do I enter the contest?
You may enter the contest by filling out the art contest form. You can find that form by clicking on the link in my Instagram's bio. The link will say something like 'Art Contest Entry Form'.
What types of artwork are accepted?
Any types! Digital art, film, sculptures, paintings, etc. Physical pieces of art do not need to be mailed in. Your file must be under 10mb when submitting it.
What are the deadlines?
Contestants will typically have 3 weeks to submit their artwork and the 4th week is reserved for judging each piece and announcing winners. Actual dates depend on the month due to different sized months. Please check for specific themes/dates of the contest on my social media page @professional_deaf_asian.
What if I miss the deadline?
No late submissions are accepted.
Is there an entry fee?
Nope! Never. If you'd like to sponsor an art contest then please reach out.
When are art contests?
Art contests are typically once a month. They will almost always begin on or before the 1st of a month. Winners will be announced, at the latest, on the last day of the month, More often than not they will be announced during the last week of the month. I reserve the right to extend submission or winner announcement times based on feedback from contestants and my own schedule.
How are entries judged?
Each entry will be given an unbiased and fair review. Pieces will be judged on things such as creativity, adhering to the theme, technical skill, color usage, and so forth. Although, I cannot give you the exact scoring guide. That's a secret.
What if I win?
Congratulations! Winners can expect to hear from me during the beginning of the fourth/last week of the month (at the latest) from the following email @pdaofficialartcontest@gmail.com. I will give more details on what happens from that point in the email.
What if I win but don't respond?
Life can get busy! I try my best to give time for responses so please stay up to date on emails to ensure you do not miss hearing from me if you do win. Winners/honorees will always be given a minimum of 3 business days to respond. However, if we are nearing the end of the month and I have yet to hear from you, then your piece will be removed from the winners pool.
How many winners will there be?
There is a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner, ALWAYS. Sometimes, depending on the quantity and quality of work, there may be honorable mentions.
What are the prizes?
Money prizes are subject to change based on funding (aka - how much extra money do I have leftover from my own personal finances that month). Yes, all of this is funded out of my own pocket. Prizes will ALWAYS be detailed in the official art contest announcement post I make on my instagram page. Please refer to that post for specific winnings for that contest.

Also, winners will always be given an additional option to have their artwork displayed on this website in the 'Art Contest' page for a minimum of 1 year.
How will the prizes be delivered?
Winning prizes may be delivered via Venmo, Cashapp, Paypal, Zelle, Western Union, etc. The prizes will always be in USD.

Winners also have the option of deferring their prize money and having it donated to a charity of their choice. Receipt as proof of donation will be delivered to the winner upon request.
Can I submit more than one piece?
No. Each artist is subject to one piece of art per contest. I often receive a lot of submissions during these times and, unfortunately, cannot review more than one piece of art per artist. Your one submission is final so ensure it is correct and finished before submitting as you cannot withdraw it to make adjustments after submission. You may submit multiple photos/angles of your artwork if it is a physical piece.
Can I withdraw from the contest?
Yes, you may. Please reach out to @pdaofficialartcontest@gmail.com. Include the piece you would like to withdraw as well so I may ensure the correct one is removed. You do not need to include a reason for withdrawing. Your life is your life. Withdrawals are not accepted after the deadline.
What if my art piece is physical?
I am happy to accept physical pieces of art. However, PLEASE ensure the following:

-
You take a clear photo of it.
-
The subject is in the best possible lighting.
-
The subject can be seen clearly.
-
No identifiable people or brands are in the photo.
How will my art be used?
By entering, artists grant Forest Shipp a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, and display the artwork for contest-related promotional purposes. This includes marketing materials, social media, and exhibition. The license does not cover commercial exploitation beyond the contest.
Do I retain the rights to my artwork?
Artists retain full ownership of their artwork. Participation in the contest does not transfer ownership rights to Forest Shipp.
Why is repurposed or pre-existing art not allowed?
This contest is about inspiring creativity, so all submissions must be created specifically for each contest's theme. Pre-existing or repurposed artwork is not allowed, as it creates an unfair advantage and goes against the contest’s purpose.

If your piece wasn’t made after the theme was announced for this contest, it will be disqualified. Thank you for keeping the competition fair and bringing fresh creativity to this event!
What if I have additional questions?
You may direct your questions to either pdaofficialartcontest@gmail.com or @professional_deaf_asian. Do not use the 'Contact Me' form on this website. That is for my freelance clientele.
Where can I find updates and more?
Any new information regarding an art contest can be found at @professional_deaf_asian!
