2025 Dec. Winners

Thank you to everyone for your support and/or participation in this contest. It could not have happened without your support! I look forward to seeing you in the next one :-)

The 2025 December Art Contest theme was Things I Didn’t Say This Year: "December has a way of dragging untold truths to the surface.

As the year closes, we look back at how everything unfolded while wondering what next year might hold. But even as we look forward, we often carry unresolved moments and unsaid words with us.

What did we hold back from saying?

Which moments deserved honesty but received silence?

This month is about sitting with the regrets, guilt, and unspoken truths that weighed on you throughout 2025. Not to fix them. Not to rewrite them. Just to finally give them shape.

If something lingered with you this year, let it breathe here. Submit your artwork and give those unspoken moments a place to exist."

I had fun and hope you did too. I look forward to the next contest and seeing everyone's work. Until then, enjoy these talented winning pieces!

First Place - Lauren Reyes

Silent Ambition

Balancing safety and ambition played a huge role during my college application season. I wanted to express the feeling of reaching while falling because, frankly, it's scary to admit an aspiration without making it sound like a fantasy. So, cheers to all those with quiet dreams and unsaid ambition.

The weight of your absence

I opened the front door to my mom sitting on the couch. The air was dense, the second it hit me I knew something was wrong. I’ve never seen her so inconsolable while trying to keep it together. My mom’s dad passed away. The vehemence left behind by the absence of someone I never got to meet, speak to, or look in the eyes. The air around you weighs more than you could expect or anticipate.

Third Place - Jessica Lawson

Love That Was Just Out of Reach

This piece shows a cropped view of a bigger still life setup I was working off of. It was done in conte crayon on toned grey paper. The reason why it's cropped that way is because I wanted it to show the struggle of grasping love when it seems so close. I made it because I find it hard to tell people that I love them, and it seems hard to get love in return because of that.

Unspoken

Like Schrödinger’s cat, unspoken truths are always present, taking form only when we choose to express them, whether whispered, shouted, or simply spoken.

The artwork captures that fleeting moment of coexistence, when we decide how these truths are revealed.

jars of unspoken thoughts

This artwork represents the things I didn’t say this year. I drew a person looking at jars filled with letters, each holding an unspoken thought or feeling
